About the event

Argue for or against motions on technology and society: AI, privacy, automation, the future of work and more. Debaters are judged on the strength of their arguments, use of evidence, rebuttals and delivery.

Motions and sides are announced on the day, so come ready to argue either way.

Rules

  1. Format

    Each round has a proposition and an opposition team. Speakers get timed slots for opening arguments, rebuttal and closing.

  2. Motions

    Motions and sides are assigned on the day, with short preparation time before each round.

  3. Judging

    Judged on argument quality, evidence, rebuttal, structure and delivery.

  4. Conduct

    Keep it respectful. Personal attacks lead to disqualification. Judges' decisions are final.
